Finance Operations Associate

Operations Hybrid, Cape Town or London Full-time, permanent
The role

Every investor's money, handled with care and accuracy.

Cur8 Capital is the investment arm of IslamicFinanceGuru, a Sharia-compliant asset manager investing across cash management, fixed income, real estate, private equity and venture capital. Every one of those investments depends on money moving accurately: into deals, out to investors, and back again as distributions. That's where you come in.

You will join our Ops team and sit at the centre of how Cur8 operates, running deployments (investor funds going into investments), investment and fee disbursements, liquidations and scheduled dividend distributions across a range of funds and asset classes. You will report directly to the Operations Director and work closely with our Investments, Investor Relations and Exco teams, across both the Cape Town and London offices.

This role is about more than checking that totals match. When something doesn't reconcile, you will find out why, fix it or escalate it, and tell the right people.

This isn't a graduate role. We're looking for someone with a solid, practically tested finance foundation who can take ownership quickly, with mentoring from senior management, and who is keen to grow alongside the business.

What you'll be doing
  • Run accurate fund operationsExecute deployments, investment and fee disbursements, liquidations and scheduled dividend distributions across multiple fund types and asset classes. Make sure every figure reconciles back to source, not just at the total level, and that payments reach investors accurately and on time in line with our processes. Help make sure our compliance obligations are met and key controls are followed every time.
  • Reconcile, investigate and resolveCarry out the daily reconciliations our regulatory obligations require. Identify genuine discrepancies, trace them to their root cause, and resolve them yourself wherever you reasonably can. Document your findings and reasoning, not just the outcome, as part of our audit and compliance record.
  • Support the wider businessHandle ad-hoc data requests and queries from the Investor Relations, Investments and Exco teams, and spot opportunities to improve and streamline existing processes so they scale as the business grows.
What we're looking for
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a highly reputable institution.
  • Either a newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA) or equivalent) with up to 2 years' post-articles experience at a Big 4 firm, or completed SAICA, ACCA, SAIPA or UK-equivalent articles at a reputable firm with 1 to 2 years' hands-on experience in reconciliations, management accounts or investment operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail. You care about getting the right answer every time, check your own work, and don't close a problem until it's genuinely resolved.
  • An analytical, curious mindset. Strong problem-solving and well-reasoned conclusions. You keep asking "why" until you have full clarity.
  • Independent problem-solving. You investigate and resolve issues yourself wherever possible, report them clearly, and know when to escalate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can explain the reasoning behind a decision, judgement call or escalation, in person in Cape Town and online with London-based colleagues.
  • Prioritisation and time management. You juggle competing deadlines in a changing environment without letting speed compromise accuracy.
  • Customer focus. Our investors are at the heart of everything we do and the people our mission serves.
  • A growth mindset. You seek out opportunities to grow, personally and professionally, including by improving the processes you work in.
  • Tech literacy. You are confident adapting to new systems and tools.
  • Reliable and organised: the kind of person others trust with investors' money, collaborative with colleagues in Cape Town, London and elsewhere, and excited to play a part in helping Muslims build wealth.

Nice to have

Prior experience in financial services, investments or another highly regulated environment (for example audit of regulated entities, insurance, or a regulated fund or asset manager), and a genuine interest in using AI tools to work smarter and build efficiencies into how we operate.

Most importantly

What didn't add up?

We want someone who can explain what didn't add up, how they found out, what they did about it, who they told, and how they made sure it doesn't happen again.

What you'll get
  • A competitive salary, with progression as the role and business grow.
  • Mentoring from senior management and a tailored growth path, with real routes to greater responsibility and seniority for high performers.
  • Hands-on exposure to every part of finance operations across multiple asset classes in a fast-growing asset management and fintech business.
  • Real ownership of work that directly affects thousands of investors.
  • Hybrid working, unlimited holiday and a supportive, mission-driven team.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Cape Town, with 3 days a week in our Century City office. For candidates in the UK, a similar hybrid pattern applies in our London office. We're an equal opportunity employer and a diverse team, united by our mission.
